In 2015, Gavin de Becker, director of the Naqaqa Giving Foundation, asked me to come to Savusavu and spend two months as an artist-in-residence, documenting the lives of the local people in that area of the island of Vanua Levu.  I brought my wife and daughter and the experience was life-changing for us.

It soon became apparent that music and dance are, next to family and community, the deepest threads that run through the culture of these beautiful people.  I've tried to capture some of that here, and am grateful to the people of the Savusavu area for sharing a bit of their lives with me.  Vinaka Vakalevu!
